You probably understand the naming system of the moves by now.īoth light and heavy-attacks have a different version when performed in the air. If you perform a heavy ( ) attack and hold down ( ), that’s a down heavy. If you hold to the side ( / ) and perform a light ( ) attack, then that’s called a side light. Your light- and heavy attacks change depending on the direction you hold. All characters have a very similar move-set, so it’s not too important who you choose. Choose any legend you feel might be exciting to learn. You could also start out by playing the tutorial they’ve set up, but it’s honestly not anything to boast about. Head over to offline play, then Training. When you’re ready, progress to the next section of the walkthrough. It’ll be important for you to complete these later on, but for now, it’s good enough that you just know where they are.įeel free to explore some more before we move on to actually playing the game. However, we’ll only use it for a brief trip to the training room later on, so once again, ignore it for now.įinally, the 7 th tab, the store. The 5 th tab, “Offline play” can be used for couch playing or playing offline. This tab will get relevant later, but ignore it for now. The 2 nd tab is “ranked”, where you play online and get put up against opponents based on how well you preform. You’ll be using this tab a lot, but for now, head back to the menu. The first tab, “Play”, sends you into the online multiplayer, where you can play in a four-man free-for-all, 1v1 “strikeout”, friendly 2v2 and experimental 1v1. Let’s quickly go over the out-of-game options of relevance. Here I talk about gravity canceling, which is tied to an achievement, so make sure you know what it is. Note: This part of the guide assumes that you have never touched a platform-fighter or anything of the sort before, so if you know the controls and how to fight, I recommend you skip to the very end of this section.
